The past of MamaZing Kombucha has been more than 10 years of beautiful memories from markets, festivals, events, and our regular flow of friendly MamaZing drinkers! What a journey.

It has also been full of bureaucracy, sabotage, commercialization of Kombucha in a detrimental way to the health and industry of Kombucha, and much more. New Zealand has suffered from capitalistic oppression and corruption when it comes to the Kombucha realm. And the potential of Kombucha in New Zealand as been squished. Without signs of that improving. In fact, it seems to be worsening.

Without going into a sordid tale, it will have to suffice to say that MamaZing Kombucha is no longer being brewed in New Zealand at this time. She is having a rest. A hiatus. A reassessment of her life’s purpose. She has been a constant in our lives for over a decade. And has been a great teacher. She needs a break from bureaucracy and longs to be in a place where she can thrive and shine. One day she may decide that New Zealand is ready for her. As her followers have been loyal and still declare her “the best Kombucha in the world”. We haven’t had all the Kombucha in the world, but from what we have tried in a few countries, she still rates highest on our list. But we are biased. Of course.

MamaZing Kombucha will continue to exist as long as our chiller is still full. And will be distributed accordingly. She will exist in our hearts forever. And her recipe will remain intact and ready for another life cycle if she is ever inspired to create her magic again. The orginal MamaZing (the first SCOBY), still lives in the corner of our brew room and has been feeding brews as well as being the first aid hero of our lives for 12 years now. She is the OG. We will keep her alive as long as are able. And she will be used to create SCOBY babies for starter kits
